7 Tips to Keep You Moving Towards the Peak of the Mountain (Metaphorically)!

As I write this, it is the 1st September 2023 and starting the first day of Spring in Australia, you may feel like you should be on top of the mountain or the world right now, but maybe you just aren’t feeling it! Guess what, that is perfectly okay! We are not going to live on top of the mountain in every moment and sometimes we are stuck in the valley for a period longer than we might like. I believe it is so important to recognise that this is very normal and the more we find acceptance, while still attempting to keep moving, then the less likely it is that we will have to stay there indefinitely. This leads us to my 7 Tips to Keep You Moving Towards the Peak of the Mountain.

#1 Embrace the Valley. Acknowledge where you are right now. Find acceptance amongst the difficulties because you might then be able to see more clearly where to go next when you aren’t in a fight or flight state. Be kind to yourself and trust that things will change soon enough. I am not asking you to love it here, but if you can learn anything along the way, even better!

#2 “One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind”.  Sometimes creating ginormous steps can be overwhelming, but in a culture where we are rewarded for the big, bold moves, it can feel demoralising when we are taking small steps, but just know this is where the most change occurs.

Think of the Tortoise and the Hare fable or an image of a staircase. This is also about creating consistent habits by taking small regular steps towards our goals. Start with drinking one glass of water a day, instead of that one coke, or walking around the block, instead of slouching around on the couch. Sit down to write your email every week, even if you aren’t any good.  Eventually you will be drinking 8 glasses of water, taking an hour long walk and getting more comfortable writing from the heart because you have already started building the habit.

Another example here, is my son who dislikes eating any fruit, so we encourage him to eat a few small pieces of Watermelon to build in the habit of eating something healthy. You will start to feel more success as you accomplish the things you set out to do and your motivation will start to increase with each progression.

#3 Your Energy and Vibration. This may be more important than you might think. A lot of the creation process starts here and divine inspiration and downloads occur from this state.

Ensuring good sleep hygiene is important for stabilising your mood and if you haven’t got this in order, then it is important to take action to improve your sleep. Sometimes, feeling low or lacking in motivation, can be as simple as being over tired. If you are looking for a natural solution to supporting your sleep, you might want to browse some of the products here.

Learning to meditate is another key component in raising your vibration and energetic frequency, but it is also incredible to help you feel physically energised or relaxed depending on what your body requires. You may need to figure out what type of meditation works for you and one that feels enjoyable, not a chore. Once again, this may take some consistency to create a habit that sticks. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Allowing yourself the space to imagine and envision what it is you might like, can also be a simple way to raise your vibration and increase your energy.

#4 Support and Connection. It is important to lean on your support network when you are experiencing challenging times, feeling stuck, in fear, sadness, guilt, shame or any despondency.

Share your feelings and experiences with friends, family, or a mentor. Connecting with others who have faced similar valleys can provide valuable insights and encouragement. You’re not alone on this journey, and often, others can offer a helping hand or a listening ear.

Spend time with people that are supporting your goals and what you are moving towards. I was having a conversation with a client the other day about how we have different friends in our lives that fulfill different needs and wants (and this is perfectly okay). Knowing this takes the pressure off expecting all your mates to share in the love with everything you do.
#5 Rekindle Your Passion. Reigniting your passion for what you’re pursuing is so important, but if you can’t remember or you don’t know exactly what that is, reflect on what initially motivated you and brought you joy. Reconnecting with your passions can infuse new energy and enthusiasm into your endeavors, helping you overcome the obstacles in your path.
#6 Try Something New. Go down a new path. Explore a new hobby. Play a new sport. Find a new restaurant or new cuisine that you wouldn’t normally try. Read a book that you wouldn’t normally read. Say yes to something out of the ordinary or just say yes more often to different invitations. Trust me, it’s going to unlock so much within you and even make you feel more alive.
#7 Celebrate Your Progress. No matter how big or how small. Even try keeping a daily journal to document how you’re feeling and how far you have come. Even keeping a gratitude journal or documenting the things you appreciate in your life right now can be super helpful. Create a little reward system for yourself. You can have a lot of fun with this, just make sure you choose rewards that feel really good to you. They don’t have to be grand, but they need to feel like you’re celebrating yourself and the little achievements you are continuing to make along your journey.
The more that you value the journey you have embarked on, the more likely you will feel like the peak of the mountain is in reach and before you know it, you’ll be looking out across the challenging landscape that you just endured with a sigh of relief, appreciation and stories to inspire your next chapter.

If you’re feeling inspired to embark on your next chapter or you know that you need a little extra support moving through some of your own energetic, emotional or physical blocks that are keeping you stuck and you can’t see the forest for the trees right now, I have some other wonderful tools that I share in my 1 to 1 coaching container that might be just what you need.
